I'm sorry if anything I say comes out wrong, but I feel like I need to say this.
I have a best friend, we hug. That shouldn't be a big deal, but people have made it big deal. I don't understand why they have to place themselves in someone else's life.
For a while people having been making snide comments about it being 'Lesbian' or 'Creepy'. However it exploded into a massive thing, and multiple got involved. It involved almost half the girls in our year (it's a small-ish school). It was divided in two, it showed me what people were really like.

Those making the comments tended to have many 'friends' if you can call them that, but not many best friends or close friends. I'm being judgmental here, and I guess that's my problem but none of them seemed smart or sensible. I'm sure they can be if in the right situation but they're stuck with the wrong people who are in a similar situation as them.
The others had clear best friends, they even made comments that they hug and they are close. Why pick out us? Why not pick out anyone else?
It might be because we are always smiling, I don't know. I'm not good with handling people who are upset either. In a way, I'm glad they picked on us. Our friendship is strong, what they've said hasn't changed our friendship at all. If someone else was in this situation, their friendship may have been affected.
No matter what, pick yourself up. And keep smiling!
